Alleged Reckless Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Auto Accident

|

Around 5:30pm on the evening of Saturday, May 18th, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received a call from a motorist reporting that a Mazda truck was driving in a reckless fashion down the westbound side of I-10. When Pima County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to investigate, they came upon a single-vehicle auto accident on a nearby road, which appeared to have just taken place. The accident scene indicated the truck had struck a power pole, rolled over and landed on its side, where it was when deputies arrived. A woman, who was found near the overturned truck, was apparently thrown from the vehicle during the accident. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. When investigators looked into the accident further, they determined the female driver was traveling at a high-speed rate when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Since the accident is still under investigation, no addition information is available as to whether alcohol, or others factors, played a role in the fatal accident.
